Zoeva En Taupe Palette & Aristo Brushes Review

You’ve found this blog, woohoo, HI. I take it you’re looking for a review of either the Zoeva En Taupe palette, or the Aristo brush collection 🙂

Aristo Brushes

This seems really strange to me, but some of the set are synthetic vegan friendly nylon, and some of the brushes are pony hair. I am making more of a conscious decision to pick up more vegan and cruelty free items, but I will still definitely use these brushes now I have them. The set contains: 227 Luxe Soft Definer Brush, 228 Luxe Crease Brush, 230 Luxe Pencil Brush, 238 Luxe Precise Shader Brush, 317 Wing Liner Brush, 322 Brow Line Brush.

En Taupe Palette

The eyeshadow palette contains 10 gorgeous colours that were absolutely made for me! I have an “autumn” skin tone, so earthy tones really suit me, I love the description of the palette: “Containing a variety of rich, highly pigmented shades, the Aristo Eyeshadow Palette is inspired by Mother Nature. The formula is easily blendable for a seamless finish and the selection of light to dark tones make sophisticated makeup looks easily achievable.”

I can’t quite put in to words what the packaging reminds me of, it’s almost like a 1920’s vintage movie scene style writing (!?). The packaging is only a strong cardboard and there is no mirror which surprised me for an item like this. That doesn’t matter too much  I suppose the quality of the shadows matter more. The shades are: In The Ground – Red Brown, Energetic – Red Brown Shimmer, Naturalistic – Soft Brown, Pre-History – Olive Green Shimmer, Central Figure – Orange Beige, The Goddess – Pale Ivory. Ploutos – Soft Pink, Air and Water – Warm Peach, Blessing – Soft Lilac, Mother’s House – Blue Shimmer.

I’m not great at makeup but I have fun with it! Also I can’t photograph makeup at all! This was a natural berry kind of look, but I couldn’t get the lighting right to show it off best. The shadows I used were ploutos, in the ground and energetic. The shade energetic swatches really sparkly but doesn’t transfer that way off the brush (dry) or off my finger which is frustrating. I think if I play with different brushes, bases, glues etc it would make a really popping accent colour. All the colours went on really nice, they blended well and built up colour really nicely. The colours are pigmented and you can really build them too. They lasted really really well, and there was very little fall out, although there was a fair bit in the pan. I loved using the brushes, they’re all so soft and each one does what it says it will (the 227 brush made blending a dream!). I’ve yet to try out the 322 brush, but I’ll do that soon in an upcoming brow post – I’m sceptical it will work for ‘hair stroke’ lines as it is quite dense and thick.

I can’t wait to play around with these products more and see if I can be brave and do a bold look for once!
